Esk, North and South

Two small rivers in southeast Scotland, rising in the Scottish Borders unitary authority, and flowing through Lothian region. Uniting at Dalkeith, they flow onwards as the River Esk and empty into the Firth of Forth at Musselburgh, 7 km/4 mi west of Edinburgh.

The north branch passes Rosslyn (Roslin) Castle, Hawthornden, Habbie's Howe, and Melville Castle; the south runs by Dalhousie Castle and Newbattle Abbey.
