Espoo

Town in southern Uusimaa province of Finland, just west of Helsinki. Formerly a rural district, Espoo became a town in 1963; as a dormitory town for the capital, it saw rapid population growth and became the second-largest city in Finland. The ancient coastal road from Turku to Vyborg runs through Espoo.

The 15th-century church has murals from the late Middle Ages.
