Ethiopian wolf

Member of the family Canidae, Canis simensis, and genetically close to the grey wolf and coyote. They are found mainly in Ethiopia's Bale and Simien Mountains, but numbers are seriously in decline with only about 400 left in 1997.

The Ethiopian wolf (13-20 kg) is found in only seven Afroalpine highlands in Ethiopia.
