Bugatti

Racing and sports-car company, founded by the Italian Ettore Bugatti. The first car was produced in 1908, but it was not until 1924 that one of the great Bugattis, the Type 35, was produced. Bugatti cars are credited with more race wins than any others. The company Hispano-Suiza took over production after Bugatti's death.

The Type 35, in production from 1924 until 1931, is credited with 2,000 race wins. Bugatti also built classic road cars, including the Royale. All Bugatti's cars bore a distinctive horseshoe-shaped radiator. In 1986, a second-hand Bugatti Royale exchanged hands for a world record $8.1 million.
