Euboea

Mountainous island off the east coast of Greece, in the Aegean Sea; area 3,755 sq km/1,450 sq mi; about 177 km/110 mi long; population (1991) 208,400. Mount Delphi reaches 1,743 m/5,721 ft. The chief town, Khalkis, is connected by a bridge to the mainland.
