blue gumEither of two Australian trees: Tasmanian blue gum (Eucalyptus globulus) of the myrtle family, with bluish bark, a chief source of eucalyptus oil; or the tall, straight Sydney blue gum (E. saligna). The major species Eucalyptus globulus ssp globulus--more commonly known as Blue Gum--grows well only in the high rainfall, deep soil regions of southwest Australia, southern Victoria and Tasmania. |
