Eupolis (c. 445-c. 411 BC)

Greek comic dramatist. He was a contemporary and rival of Aristophanes, with whom he helped create the Old Comedy form. He is ranked by Horace as one of the greatest writers of his school. His plays, of which only fragments survive, include Kolakes, Maricas, The Baptae, The Demoi, and Poleis.
