Euskirchen

City in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, 25 km/15 mi southwest of Bonn; population (1994) 180,400. There are electrical and mechanical engineering factories, as well as glass and sugar manufacturers.

Euskirchen was the birthplace of the chemist Emil Fischer.
