Evans, Damon (1960– )

American tenor. He made his debut in Glass's Akhnaten for the New York City Opera in 1985. In the same year he appeared with the Virginia Opera in the first performance of Musgrave's Harriet: the Woman Called Moses. He sang Sportin' Life in Porgy and Bess at Glyndebourne in 1986, and repeated the role in Boston and Moscow and at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London. His concerts include the first UK performances of Blitzstein's Airborne Symphony, A Child of our Time and Weill's Lost in the Stars suite (at Carnegie Hall in 1989). He sang Don José in Carmen Jones in London in 1991.
