Evans, Joan (1893–1977)

British medievalist and social historian. Her wide-ranging publications include Magical Jewels of the Middle Ages and Renaissance 1922, Life in Medieval France 1924, Art in Medieval France 987–1498 1948, English Art 1307–1461 1949, Dress in Medieval France 1952, History of Jewellery 1100–1870 1953, and Monastic Architecture in France from the Renaissance to the Revolution 1964.

She was president of the Society of Antiquaries of London 1959–64 and published her autobiography Prelude and Fugue 1965.
