Evans, Bill (1929-1980)

US jazz musician. A classically trained pianist, he was one of the few major white innovators in jazz history. He played with Charles Mingus and Miles Davis, collaborating on the latter's historic 1959 recording Kind of Blue.

He was born in Plainfield, New Jersey. He was known for his delicate, introspective style. From 1961 until his death, he led a succession of highly interactive trios.
