With the artist's help, the middle-schoolers created 18 panels from expanded polystyrene, learning how to cut the foam with a hot wire and create different textures by using various scraping and cutting techniques. What was once large-scale use of expanded polystyrene as shock protection for computers and other sensitive products has now been sharply reduced, resulting in smaller overall packaging and less energy consumption. Chemline has introduced CHEMTHANE 7050, a spray-applied, 100% solids seamless polyurea "hard coating" that is designed to protect Styrofoam or expanded polystyrene (EPS) architectural shapes from damage, including thermal expansion, water intrusion, or direct impact. |
