Expert, Henri (1863-1952)

French musicologist. He studied, and later taught, at Louis Niedermeyer's school in Paris, and was also a pupil of César Franck and Eugène Gigout. He was professor of music at the École des Hautes Études Sociales and librarian of the Conservatory library. He edited a series of early French music, Les Maîtres musiciens de la renaissance française and Monuments de la musique française, of settings of Ronsard's poetry, early songs, church and harpsichord music.
