extranet

In computing, corporate intranet that has been extended beyond the usual company boundaries to include customers, suppliers, and other third parties. An intranet is primarily a network protected from the external world by a firewall and other security measures. The Internet is a network that exists beyond the firewall, accessible to everyone. An extranet is a hybrid whereby an intranet is extended beyond the firewall, often using the Internet although private networks can also be used.
