FTSE 100 Index

A share index of the 100 most highly capitalized companies listed on the London Stock Exchange. The index began in 1984 with a base level of 1,000. FTSE is an abbreviation of Financial Times Stock Exchange. The index is maintained by the FTSE Group, an independent company owned by the Financial Times newspaper and the London Stock Exchange
