Fabriano

Town in Le Marche region, east-central Italy, 60 km/37 mi southeast of Ancona at the eastern end of the Apennines; population (1991) 28,700. Industries include bricks, kitchen furniture, and foodstuffs. There is an ancient parchment and paper-making industry, begun in the 13th century. Fabriano has a 14th-century bishop's palace.
