Fabricius, Werner (1633–1679)

German organist and composer. After pursuing other studies at Leipzig University, including law, he became music director at St Paul's Church there in 1656 and, in addition, at St Nicolas' Church in 1658. He was also a public notary.

He studied under his father, Albert Fabricius, who was organist at Flensburg; his other teachers were Thomas Selle and Heinrich Schiedemann at the Hamburg Gymnasium.

Works

motets, hymn tunes; sacred and secular songs for several voices; suites for viols and other instruments.
