Faenza

Town in Ravenna province, Emilia-Romagna, Italy, on the River Lamone, 30 km/19 mi southwest of Ravenna; population (2001) 53,600. It is connected with the Adriatic Sea by canal. Products include textiles, furniture, ironware, and sulphur. Faenza gave its name to faience pottery, tin-glazed earthenware first produced here.

It has many medieval remains, including the 15th-century walls, an unfinished 15th-century cathedral, an arcaded market place, and ancient palaces.
