Faggioni, Piero (1936– )

Italian stage director. He worked with Luchino Visconti and made his solo debut at Venice in 1964, with La Bohème. He produced Alceste at La Scala in 1972, and La Fanciulla del West at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, in 1977 (returning with Il Trovatore in 1989). He staged Carmen at the 1977 Edinburgh Festival and Francesca da Rimini at the New York Metropolitan Opera House in 1984. His Don Quixote was seen in Paris in 1986 and his Boris Godunov in Florence in 1987. He belongs to the Italian realist school of opera producers.
