Fago, Nicola (1677–1745)

Italian composer, nicknamed Il Tarantino after his birthplace. He was educated at the Conservatorio della Pietà dei Turchini in Naples. He was maestro di cappella at the Conservatorio di S Onofrio 1704–08 and at the Conservatorio della Pietà 1705–40. His works consist mainly of church music but he also wrote four or more operas including Radamisto (1707) and Cassandra (1711), oratorios, and other works.
