Fago, Nicola (1677-1745)

Italian composer, nicknamed Il Tarantino after his birthplace. He was educated at the Conservatorio della Pietà dei Turchini in Naples. He was maestro di cappella at the Conservatorio di S Onofrio 1704-08 and at the Conservatorio della Pietà 1705-40. His works consist mainly of church music but he also wrote four or more operas including Radamisto (1707) and Cassandra (1711), oratorios, and other works.
