Fagus

Genus of broad-leaved trees in the family Fagaceae. There are ten species, native to northern temperate regions. The common beech F. sylvatica is native to Britain; other species include American beech F. grandiflora; the Eastern European F. orientalis; Japanese beech F. japonica; also the Chinese beeches F. engleriana, F. longipetiolata, and F. lucida.
