Fairborn

Town in Greene County, southwest Ohio; population (1990) 31,300. It is located 16 km/10 mi northeast of Dayton. It lies in a farming area in which wheat and livestock are major products. Cement, tools, and dyes are among local manufactures. Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, headquarters of the Logistics Command, Aeronautical Systems Division, and Institute of Technology, is near the town and is important to its economy, employing many of its residents.
