Fairfax of Cameron, Ferdinando

    0.02 sec.

Fairfax of Cameron, Ferdinando (1584–1648)

English general. He is mainly associated with the Civil War conflict in Yorkshire, where he commanded the Parliamentary forces, but he was defeated at Adwalton Moor.

He was the son of Thomas Fairfax, 1st Baron, of Denton, Yorkshire. When Charles I had his quarters at York, the Commons sent Fairfax to report on the King's movements, and Fairfax, by protesting against the presentment of the grand jury of Yorkshire, received the thanks of Parliament.
