Fairhope

Town in Baldwin County, southwest Alabama; population (1990) 8,500. It is situated across Mobile Bay from the city of Mobile. Founded in 1894 by a group of Iowan followers of single-tax advocate Henry George, it is today a prosperous resort noted as a yachting, seafood, and crafts centre.

Such a school was created in 1907 by a revolutionary educator, Marietta Johnson, in an experimental utopian community in Fairhope, Alabama.
