Fairview

Small town in Todd and Christian counties, southwest Kentucky; population (1990) 100. It is located 16 km/10 mi east of Hopkinsville. Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederacy, was born here in 1808. His adversary, Abraham Lincoln, was born less than 160 km/100 mi to the northeast near Hodgenville, the following year. The 107-m/350-ft Jefferson Davis Monument is in a memorial park.

Town in Bergen County, northeast New Jersey; population (1990) 10,700. It is located 10 km/6 mi northeast of Jersey City, on the Palisades of the Hudson River. Fairview's industries produce furniture and other wood products and chemicals; it is also a commercial and residential suburb. It was first settled in 1860.

Town in Dutchess County, southeast New York; population (1990) 4,800. It is located to the north of Poughkeepsie. Fairview is home to Marist College (1929).
