Fairy Queen, The

Semi-opera by Purcell (libretto adapted from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream by Elkanah Settle), first produced at the Dorset Gardens Theatre, London, England, in April 1692. The plot broadly follows that of Shakespeare's play, without setting any of the words. It was revived by the English National Opera for the Purcell tercentenary in 1995.
