Falconet, Etienne-Maurice (1716–1791)

French sculptor. His works range from baroque to gentle rococo in style. He directed sculptural modelling at the Sèvres porcelain factory 1757–66. His bronze equestrian statue Peter the Great in St Petersburg was commissioned 1766 by Catherine II.
