Falconiformes
| Order of birds of prey. It includes about 275 species of birds in about five families, grouped into three suborders: Cathartidae include the New World vultures, such as the condors; Acciptridae are the Old World vultures, eagles, and hawks; and Falconidae are the falcons. All members of this order hunt by day, eating the flesh of live animals or carrion. They have sharp, hooked bills and grasping claws. |
