Falerii

One of the 12 chief cities of ancient Etruria (now Tuscany and part of Umbria), situated 50 km/30 mi north of Rome. Captured by the Roman general Camillus 394 BC, it revolted at the end of the first Punic War, and was destroyed by the Romans 241 BC. A new town was built in the plain nearby.
