Fantasia contrappuntistica

Work for piano composed in 1910, with the sub-title ‘Grosse Fuge’, by Ferruccio Busoni. It is based on the Contrapunctus XVIII of Johann Sebastian Bach's The Art of Fugue and completes the last unfinished fugue, with extra subjects created by Busoni. Two more versions for solo piano were completed by 1912 and a version for two pianos by 1921, first performed in Berlin, Germany, on 16 November 1921.
