Fantasia on a theme of Handel

Work by Michael Tippett for piano and orchestra, composed 1939–41, and first performed in London, England, on 7 March 1942. It was written while Tippett was in conflict with the wartime government as a conscientious objector; just over a year after the first performance he spent three months in Wormwood Scrubs prison.
