Farley, Carole (1946– )

US soprano. She studied in Munich and made her debut at New York Town Hall in 1969. She sang Lulu for the Welsh National Opera in 1971 (the first production by a British company of Berg's opera), and Offenbach's Hélène for the New York City Opera in 1976. She sang Lulu again at the Metropolitan Opera House in 1977. She also had engagements in Cologne, Lyon, and Brussels (including the first performance of La Passion de Gilles by Boesmans, in 1983). Her other roles include Salome, Berg's Marie (which she sang in Buenos Aires in 1989), and Violetta. She did many concerts with her husband, José Serebrier.
