Farrant, Richard

Farrant, Richard (c. 1530–1580)

English organist and composer. He was a Gentleman of the Chapel Royal in London until 1564, when he became organist and choirmaster at St George's Chapel, Windsor. He also wrote music for the Blackfriar's Theatre, London.

Works

service in A minor (usually sung in G minor), anthems ‘Call to Remembrance’ and ‘Hide not Thou Thy Face’, and other church music, songs for plays produced by him with the choirboys before Queen Elizabeth; keyboard pieces in the Mulliner Book.
