Farrell, Terry

    0.09 sec.

Farrell, Terry (1938– )

English architect and urban designer. He works in a postmodern idiom, largely for corporate clients seeking an alternative to the rigours of modernist or high-tech office blocks. His works in London include Embankment Place (1991), which sits theatrically on top of Charing Cross station in Westminster and has been likened to a giant jukebox; and his MI6 Building, the heardquarters of the Secret Intelligence Service, at Vauxhall Cross.

Farrell's style is robust and eclectic, and he is not afraid to make jokes in architecture, such as the gaily painted giant egg cups that adorn the parapet of his TV AM building (1981–82) in Camden, London. Other works include the Peak Tower in Hong Kong (1995), the Deep Aquarium in Hull, England (2001), and the Transportation Centre at Inchon International Airport in Seoul, Korea (2002).
