Kodok

Town in Upper Nile state, southeast Sudan, situated on the west bank of the White Nile, 75 km/47 mi northeast of Malakal. The town, formerly known as Fashoda, was the scene of the Fashoda Incident of 1899, when tensions between Britain and France almost led to war between the two countries. Kodok is the residence of the ‘Mek’, or king, of the Shilluk ethnic group.
