    0.03 sec.

Fathy, Hassan (1900-1989)

Egyptian architect. In his work at the village of New Gournia in Upper Egypt 1945-48, he demonstrated the value of indigenous building technology and natural materials in solving contemporary housing problems. This, together with his book The Architecture of the Poor (1973), influenced the growth of community architecture enabling people to work directly with architects in building their homes.
