Fausto

    0.07 sec.

Fausto

Opera by Louise Angélique Bertin (1805-1877) (libretto, in Italian, by the composer, based on Goethe's drama), first produced at the Théâtre Italien, Paris, France, on 8 March 1831. It was the first Faust opera and the only one by a woman. Bertin was the sister of Hector Berlioz's editor of the Journal des Débats, and Berlioz may have had a hand in the work; he probably suggested the subject, at least.
