Favero, Mafalda (1903–1981)

Italian soprano. She made her debut at Cremona in 1925, as Lola. She sang Liù at Parma in 1927, and in 1929 appeared as Eva at La Scala, under Toscanini; she returned until 1950 as Manon, Mimi, and Thaïs, and in the first performances of works by Lattuada and Wolf-Ferrari. She performed at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, 1937–39, and at the New York Metropolitan Opera House in 1938. She sang in concert from 1950.
