Fawcett, Percy Harrison (1867–1925)

British explorer. After several expeditions to delineate frontiers in South America during the rubber boom, he set off in 1925, with his eldest son John and a friend, into the Mato Grosso to find the legendary ‘lost cities’ of the ancient Indians, the ‘cradle of Brazilian civilization’. They were never seen again.
