Federal Trade Commission

US anti-monopoly organization (see monopoly), established in 1914. The FTC enforces federal antitrust and consumer protection laws. The Commission seeks to ensure that US markets function competitively and are vigorous, efficient, and free of undue restrictions, and that actions that threaten consumers' opportunities to exercise informed choices are eliminated.
