Federally Administered Tribal Areas

Part of the mountainous frontier of northwestern Pakistan with Afghanistan, comprising the districts of Malakand, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, and Waziristan, administered directly from Islamabad; area 27,219 sq km/10,507 sq mi; population (1998) 3,138,000. The chief towns are Wana, Razmak, and Miram Shah.
