Federer, Roger (1981– )Swiss tennis player. In 2004 he became the first man since Mats Wilander in 1988 to win three of the four Grand Slam tournaments, winning the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. He repeated the feat in 2006. In 2007 he won his fifth straight Wimbledon title. Having already won each of the other three Grand Slam titles, he reached the final of the French Open in 2006, 2007, and 2008 but lost each time to Rafael Nadal.
