Feith, Rhijnvis (1753–1824)

Dutch author. Influenced by Goethe, Friedrich Klopstock, and Christoph Wieland, he wrote sentimental, morbid novels as well as tragedies, didactic poems, and lyrics. His best novels, Julia 1783 and Ferdinand en Constantia 1785, were both written in emulation of Goethe's Werther.

He was born at Zwolle and educated at the University of Leiden.
