Felix the Cat

Cartoon-film character created by Australian cartoonist Pat Sullivan 1919. Felix, a perky and indestructible black cat, was the first cartoon character to make the crossing from screen to comic strip, appearing in his own newspaper strip 1923. The character was revived in the 1930s and 1960s by other artists.

That was a serious contender right through the pregnancy but a lot of people didn't seem to like it because of the link to Felix the cat.
Leckey earned the prize, which is contemporary art's most prestigious award, with his film that featured Felix the Cat and Garfield, and also showed him lecturing on his love of animation.
Felix the Cat, Garfield, and the Titanic movie also appeared in a film by Leckey where the artist was seen lecturing on his love of animation.
