Felton, John

    0.02 sec.

Felton, John (1595–1628)

English assassin. As a lieutenant in the army, he applied to the Duke of Buckingham for promotion and, when this was refused, he stabbed Buckingham to death, for which he was hanged.

He was born into an old Suffolk family. On his way to the Tyburn gallows, the crowd publicly blessed him for delivering them from the hated duke.
