Fennell, Frederick (1914– )

US conductor. He founded the Eastman Wind Ensemble in 1952 and made many successful recordings with it. He was conductor-in-residence at the University of Miami School of Music, Florida, 1965–80, and conductor with the Kosei Wind Orchestra, Tokyo, Japan, from 1984.

He studied at the Eastman School and conducted the Little Symphony and Symphonic Band 1939–65.
