Fenwick

Village in East Ayrshire unitary authority, Scotland, on Fenwick Water, 8 km/5 mi northeast of Kilmarnock; population (2001) 860. It lies at the centre of Fenwick Moors, a lightly populated plateau between the Glasgow region and Kilmarnock basin. Cooperative buying is believed to have made its first appearance in the local weaving trade.

Fenwick's connections with the Covenanters are commemorated by several monuments. The town is also home to the John Fulton Memorial Hall, commemorating the work of John Fulton who built a working model of the solar system in 1882. Known as the ‘orrery’, this is now on display in the Glasgow Museum and Art Gallery.
