Ferrier, Kathleen Mary (1912–1953)

English contralto. She brought warmth and depth of conviction to English oratorio roles during wartime and subsequently to opera and lieder (songs), including Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde/The Song of the Earth, and the role of Lucretia in Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia (1946).
