The fertilized egg cell begins to divide and grow to become a blastocyst (ball of about 100 cells), then an embryo, and finally a fetus (unborn animal eight weeks after fertilization).
Each fertilized egg cell even establishes two distinct halves, along what is called the anterior-posterior axis.
For dais to happen, these cells must first join their genetic material together to form a fertilized egg cell with a totally new and unique version of the human genome.
