Festing, Michael (Christian) (c. 1680–1752)

English violinist and composer. He was music director of the King's Theatre, London, from 1737 and of Ranelagh Gardens from 1742.

He was a pupil of Francesco Geminiani in London. He made his first appearance there in 1724 and became Master of the King's Musick in 1735.

paraphrase of the third chapter of Habakkuk, Milton's Song on May Morning (1748), Addison's Ode for St Cecilia's Day, and other odes; cantatas; symphonies, concertos and sonatas for various instruments; songs.
